On the map we knew where we were, but I don't think we really knew what we were up for. We only knew that by following the road we would eventually reach our goal. And in the end, that was all that we needed to know.
The condition of the road varied from bad to outright nightmarish, with rocks as big as one's fist and soft sand that stopped one dead in the tracks. Also the curvy road and the steep hills deserve a mention here. Not to forget the gigantic horseflies that made it their habit of encircling us while we tried to move forth at great effort but little result.
All of which might sound like hell, but actually is just par for the course on trips like these.
