Our friends Erica and Andy had said we could come stay at their place if we reached Berlin with our bikes, maybe not fully realizing that this meant their living room would be covered in smelly cycling shoes, moist sleeping bags and a wet tent, dirty laundry and two sweaty cyclists.
After a long hot shower, with no need to insert tokens and stress about running out of water with shampoo in our hair (standard campsite procedure in Germany) we went out for a tasty plate of seitan and vegan currywurst at nearby restaurant Jojo. And later for a piece of excellent vegan cake at the Veganz supermarket and an evening snack at Vöner, another vegan joint in the Friedrichshein neighborhood. We can see why someone would want to live here…
